Hi Sleepers,

I wanted to let everyone know that I am out for the summer. Darias is aware and should be taking over my jobs as mentor and applications officer. I have not like this expansion since the beginning and have tried to hang in there, but I am bored with the game. I am taking a much deserved vacation. See you for the next expansion.

  Leave the light on

Howdy Sleepers.
I\'ve debated this in my head for some time now and it\'s come to a point where I\'m more sure of my choice
so I\'ve come to the decision of letting everyone know I will be moving servers and sadly not be part of
SC any longer. That\'s not to say I won\'t be back or get burnt out over there but, for now this is what
I need to do. I have an abundance of real life things going on right now none that I wish to disclose
as they are things I need to work on first but a lot of these things pushed my going another direction in game.
I\'m getting into higher end content and find myself either missing guild night or miss grouping with sleepers because I\'m raiding with new friendships i\'ve established. I\'ve had members ask where I\'ve been and say they haven\'t seen me in vent in months..and this is all too true.
This is hard for me as you guys will always be my family guild.. I would vent, laugh with and even share life moments or pain with most if not all of you.
As an officier I find it hard to maintain my promise of joining guild activities and being fully devoted to
answering questions and putting anything i\'m doing on hold. I have kept to this aspect but am absent in
providing my help to guild fun. So with this I hope to pop in on alts and see you all on just to say hello.
I may even sneak some licks. But Luxury will be over on deathwing for now fighting in a pvp world.

  A Hopeful Outlook
Posted by: Darias-Perenolde - 04-08-2016, 07:00 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (6)

I\'ve been playing for nearly 11.5 years and am approaching 10 years in the guild, with the last nine being guild leader. I have made this post a few times before, about the \"meh\" we\'re all feeling towards the end of an expansion. However, I\'ve never been so ambivalent about the game as I am right now.

This expac has been really hard on the community both the overarching WoW community, but also to Sleeper Cartel itself. LFG, LFR, garrisons, shipyards, have all turned this into a solo game lately which happens to have a built-in chat channel. There are more Sleeper Cartel \"lifers\" taking a break from WoW these days than are actively playing I think. Most of you that I see in game are newer people, and I think we\'re doing a disservice to you.

I used to love guild nights. But we\'ve run out of ideas. Most everyone shows up late (self included!), piddles about for a few, and if no one shows up, logs off. We\'ve turned into teenagers in a small town with nothing to do in the middle of summer. \"Hey we could...\"...\"Nah, we did that two weeks ago.\" \"What about...\"...\"We did that last month. Twice!\" We\'re all tapped for ideas.

The rest of the week, unless you\'ve got a raid group you\'re regularly with, most of us are guilty of logging on, flipping through our garrison roster, doing the garrison dailies, maybe doing a Tanaan daily or six, and if we don\'t have alts, logging for the night. MAYBE you\'ll do a dungeon, but it\'s not terribly common, and that need for someone to craft something isn\'t even there.

What I\'m saying here is that I ask you to forgive my absence lately. If it wasn\'t for this guild, I think the only reason I\'m paying my monthly fee is habit (albeit a decade-long one). I have a responsibility to you guys, and I feel like I\'m falling very, very short of taking care of that.

My hope is that Legion -- and hopefully Soon™ Legion beta -- will bring back a little fire into the game for all of us, most of all me. I miss you guys, I really do, but there just doesn\'t seem to be anything at all in the game to do right now.

  Taking a bit of a wow-break
Posted by: Sckittles-Perenolde - 03-26-2016, 11:10 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (3)

With the warm weather starting soon, and catching a bit of the wow-blahs that float around while waiting for an expansion to come out i have decided to take a break from wow for a bit. Over the last while i have been undecided as to whether i would take this break or just muddle thru things but in the end i figured the break was needed. But rest assured i will return closer to the launch date to rejoin the fun with you all. Until then, this is Sckittles hanging up his wow-gauntlets on the \"i\'ll be back\" peg by the sleeper doorway.

  Gold, and more Gold!
Posted by: Krv-Perenolde - 01-30-2016, 12:08 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (1)

Its that time of the game again. Its obvious people are either getting tired of the expansion, or have already packed up the Garrison and are waiting until Legion.

I was (still am) in the first boat, but I knew I was going to pre-purchase Legion (did) so I wanted to occupy my time in another way in WoW that might help move things along when Legion drops.

I set a goal for myself to make 300,000 gold before Legion drops, which for me would be the highest amount of pixelated goodness I have ever had in game at one time. I started this adventure 5 weeks ago with all I had left, 8,700 gold, as the seed money. I came into WoD with over 100,000 gold, but spent it on all kinds of things such as raid wipes, powerleveling characters, cool pets, and fast women. It was time to go back to work.

I have an addon called Trade Skill Master, and have had it since the birth of TSM way back in the day. It would be horrible of me to try and explain what this addon does in detail, so go check it out at Curse.com or Stormspire.net (home of TSM). I finally decided to use this addon to its full potential, and boy is it powerful. Once you get through the basics and delve into the hard core mechanics it is truly the very best addon in the game. I had to watch 20 or so video\'s on Youtube to even grasp what this thing does, which sounds hugely overwhelming (and it is), but you are only going to get out of it what you put into it.

Using TSM, and some other stuff which I will tell you about below, I blew by my goal of 300,000 gold in just under 5 weeks. Check out my bag frame and how much gold is stuffed in my pocket.

<img src=\"http://sleepercartel.com/images/gallery/krv.jpg\" />

I want to make it clear that I am not trying to brag or want people to be in awe of a measly 300k, I just wanted to share with Sleepers how you can do this was well, and just as easily.

Let me make something very clear. I am lazy. I want the easy way out, so I am only scratching the surface of what TSM can do.

The most powerful thing about TSM? (at least in my eyes). It can tell you value of a non soul bound item by simply hovering over it. You don\'t have to run to the AH and see if someone else has posted one, it tells you that on the hover over. It gives you a realm AH value if it currently listed, a realm average of what it has sold for in the last 90 days, and it gives you a Global average value (all the AH\'s) of what it sold for in the last 90 days. You can change or add any of this hover over information as well. So what does this mean? It means that if you loot something that you think might be of value you can hover over and know RIGHT NOW what its worth. This tells you if you should vendor it or sell it on the AH. I cannot express to you how cool this feature is. It will change your WoW life. Transmog is THE biggest money making thing you can do in the game even though it is the HARDEST market to make gold in. Now with simple hover you will know if that shield is worth 8g in vendor trash, or 27,000 gold on the AH. It works every EVERY non soul bond item in the game, including pets (more on that in a bit).

I can say without a shadow of a doubt TSM has made me more gold in the last 5 weeks then I have earned in my entire WoW playtime, and 1/3rd of that 300k in my bag is from paying attention to Transmog AH values.

So what about the other 200k? I am glad you asked.

Garrisons. I know, boring. Seriously, watching presidential debates is more exciting then Garrisons. But Garrisons are HUGE OMG GOLD MAKING THINGY\'S of GOODNESS. The hard part is having enough gold up front to seed your Garrisons. Note that Garrisons is plural. You need, IMHO, at least 3 level 100 characters to get the Gold ball rolling down the hill. I have 8 level 100\'s, and 6 of those have maximized Garrisons, and the other 2 are working towards its. You MUST have a level 3 Barracks (so you can have 25 followers instead of 20), a level 1 trading post, a level 3 salvage yard (this is where some serious gold is made), and a level 3 Inn. You use the Inn to hire followers with the scavenging and treasure hunter traits only. You use the Salvage Yard to open the boxes that you get from level 100 follower missions. When you have 25 followers all leveled up to max level and gear you will be getting 10-15 boxes per day, which is 70-150 gold per day. And that is if you only check on the followers once a day. Get an addon called Master Plan, makes sending you followers on missions a breeze. I check on my followers at least 2 times a day (morning and evening) and right now I am pulling in 1000 gold (roughly) per character per week, so I see 5000 to 6000 gold per week for doing nothing more then clicking a button. I hire, from the Inn, every week until I have 25 followers on that character. I hire 2 treasure hunters for every 1 scavenger. The scavenger will double your Garrison resources for a mission, which I then use those for buying trade goods at the level 1 trading post. These goods are used to produce profession items. (more on profession items in a bit)

Shipyards. Even more boring then Garrisons. Ugh. I don\'t utilize these well enough, as only 2 of my characters have shipyards that are awesome. Pink Krv and Red Krv can pull 2000 gold a week each depending on the mission types that pop up, but when a gold mission is on the board I jump for joy because I usually have a 3X multiplier ship available and can see 700 to 2100 gold per mission.

Garrisons and the Shipyards have allowed my to pull in over 100k in the last 4 weeks. We have a long time until Legion drops, you can get all your level 100 character garrisons going full bore in that time. Please realize that Garrison/Shipyard gold is gold for almost zero effort after the initial investment to get the buildings to level 3.

Professions. With 8 level 100\'s I have every profession covered, and multiples of a few. The best money maker (right now)? Hands down and by a clear margin (for me) is Enchanting. I have 2 enchanters that are pumping out enchants that sell for 1200 to 1500 gold depending on the day of the week. I can, and realize I am pretty lazy, push a few buttons and right now am producing 4 of those enchants per toon in a seven day period, so 8 a week. Crafting cost (which TSM will show you) is roughly 500-600 gold per enchant, and they sell for 1200-1500. That\'s double your money. Second is jewel crafting, followed by Tailoring. Why? Even this late in the expansion people (mostly raiders) need Gems to fill their slots on the gear that drops for them, and the market for Hexweave bags is still strong. I make 2-3 bags per week, the crafting cost is around 300g, and they sell for 1000 to 1200 gold.

Pets. OMG, there is some huge profit potential here. Level a desirable pet to 25 and then sell it for thousands, if not 10\'s of thousands. I don\'t level pets, I don\'t like the pet battles. I just flip them on the AH. Which brings us back to TSM. Seriously, get this addon. TSM has a feature called Sniper, which when you use it scans the last page of the AH constantly. This means anything posted RIGHT NOW will come up on Sniper. You set a few values and what to look for in the options and it will tell you what just came up on the Auction House. So what, you say? Here is the what. If you are paying attention to Battle Pets you will start to notice people, for the most part, don\'t have a friggin clue what these things are worth. Almost any blue pet will sell well, and with the Sniper function enabled you will see someone post a level 1 lizard for 25g. You hover over the pet, notice that based on TSM historical data it is worth 3,000 gold, and immediately purchase it. You have to be fast, other folks are also using Sniper in TSM. If you don\'t make the decision to buy that pet in about 3 seconds it will be gone. You buy the 25g lizard, run the mailbox, collect said lizard, run back the AH, and list that thing for 2500 to 3000 gold. If you want quick gold list it for 1000 gold and watch another \"flipper\" snatch it up. You just made 975 gold for 30 seconds of work. I snatched a Pygmy Direhorn for 16,500 gold. I sat on it for a week, and then listed it for 28,500 gold. It sold in 11 minutes. Not to shabby.

TSM allows you to buy low (stupidly low) because 90% of the player base is even lazier then me and doesn\'t take the time to learn the true value of items they are posting. Then you sell high, and watch the gold come rolling in.

Old raids. Level a 100 Death Knight or Hunter. Get an average of 650 gear (baleful) and then go crush old raids. 1000 to 1500 gold per run of 25 man heroic raids such as Ulduar and ICC. Plus Transmog gear potentially worth thousands.

I am just showing you the tip of the iceberg here, but do yourself a favor and download TSM. Spend a few days learning it (I still am) and then go make some gold. Lots of gold.

  Mythic Dungeons
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 01-11-2016, 03:39 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (6)

Id like to run these with guildies if possible. on Telonnar ive pugged most of them as dps so far (only ones i have left to finish are bloodmaul slag mines and grimrail depot). Only fight i had trouble with was the lighnting globe boss in the front of ubrs mythic (id like to try that again though with speed gear on - the one time i ran it i didnt have time to swap gear out). They can drop up to 725 gear so its worth doing. (highest ive seen so far is 710 piece drop in 7 runs or so). I think the gear could help raiders fill out their set(s). Id be willing to tank these as well if you dont mind a few wipes while i learn some of the stratagies. Id like to make this thread a list of those willing to run them. Anyone above 680-685 or so should be good enough to run these (or attempt them etc).

At this point unless I kill kazzak or run heroic HFC some this is the only way i can improve Tels gear (other than getting another piece beyond helm for the 2 piece set tier 18 hfc set bonus). I think it could really help raid progress as well (and improve us enough to maybe try hfc fights 1-2 on heroic etc).

a couple notes on the timewalker weekly thats up this week
Posted by: Telonnar-Perenolde - 01-07-2016, 05:29 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (1)

Just a note that the 5x timewalker weekly dungeon quest drops an extra seal for rerolling kazzak or in HFC as well as 500 vp and a normal hfc drop (random). Here is an example of what i do for timewalker gear on my 2nd warrior archonas. I use a few wod pieces with gemslots (cloak, wrist and trinkets etc) but for the rest of his gear i go for the old raid gearsets purchased from dalaran or farmed from ICC with maximum str/crit gems (including BC boots from black temple which are very close to having Wotlk stats due to the stat squish). Due to the scaling and the fact that the gems and enchants are not as affected by the scaling i typically do 37-42 percent of the damage with a build like this (assuming the rest of the party does not gear up to do them). It can turn a chore of running 5 of them into a cakewalk and once you have the set made it will last till the end of the xpac (and be useable for wotlk and bc week quests). <a href=\"http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/perenolde/Archonas/simple\">http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/perenolde/Archonas/simple</a>

A Tale of Two SCs: Santa Claus and Sleeper Cartel
Posted by: Darias-Perenolde - 12-15-2015, 10:12 AM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (11)

Yesterday, my wife was dropping off some packages at the post office and she was behind a lady who was bringing in a TON of packages. She had a little hand truck with the packages strapped in with bungee cords and as the line moved, she tipped it back inched forward, and settled the cart back down. She\'d definitely done it before.

As my wife is prone to striking up conversations with random strangers, she commented on the lady\'s skill and asked if she was sending things to family for the holidays.
<div style=\"margin-left: 2em;\"><i>\"Nope. Care packages for soldiers.\"</i></div>
The lady went on to tell how nowadays most soldiers only get two hot meals a day. In true military fashion, those meals are at strict times a day, and whether you slept in or were out on base on orders doing something, if you\'re late for chow...you don\'t eat. Realizing this is the case all too often, this lady puts together packages for the soldiers and sends them off to her husband\'s unit.

We as Sleeper Cartel used to do charities -- particularly at Christmastime -- quite frequently. We haven\'t done one in a long, long time. We happen to have a lot of former military members (and/or their families) as guild members. As there are always entirely too many soldiers, sailors, and airmen no where even close to home, I think this is a good chance for us to do some good IRL.

<h4>Options for Charities</h4><hr>
Now, the one the lady above uses is <a href=\"http://anysoldier.com/\">Any Solder</a> because you can literally send it to a specific solder and/or their unit. If it was that we had a guildie who was stationed, I would definitely use this one. However, they do have a <a href=\"http://anysoldier.com/HelpDonate.cfm#donate\">donation page for generic donations</a>, but they just don\'t take PayPal. If it came down to it, we could shuffle money back and forth from PayPal to my account and I could pay it...but there\'s like a week delay in doing that.

Next option I found elsewhere was <a href=\"http://soldiersangels.org/about-us\">Soldiers\' Angels</a>. I like this one almost more <a href=\"http://soldiersangels.org/angel-bakers.html\">for my own business</a> than even for the guild, but it still has merits. They seem a bit more wide-reaching and have a large variety of services they provide both home (vets perhaps in a VA hospital) as well as abroad.

Of course there is also the <a href=\"https://usowishbook.uso.org/?_ga=1.199134383.1442490939.1450208763\">USO Donation options</a>, <a href=\"https://www.operationgratitude.com/sponsorcarepackages\">Operation Gratitude</a>, or even non-care package based things like <a href=\"http://www.militaryfamilyvoices.us/content/why-world-get-involved#/step1/cash/credit\">Military Family Voices</a> (grab a tissue for that one).

<hr>
Last weekend Siddhi, Lux and I were talking about the fact that we should do Secret Santa, but nowadays...shopping in-game is tough. Armies of alts, garrisons, and ultra-high-level farming ease makes it hard to figure out what to even ASK for much less find for that person who doesn\'t give an idea.

We need to get back to doing stuff IRL. It\'s been entirely too long since we\'ve done that. That\'s what Sleepers really got to be known for, giving back to the community...in game and outside.

Speak up Sleepers. Let us know which you\'d like to do first. <b><u>I\'d like to have the donations to be due in to PayPal no later than next week on the 23rd</u></b>. Tight, I know...but we should have time to gather things up.

<hr>

After thinking about it, I\'ve decided to go with Operation Gratitude. They offered the most variety of donations (active duty and veterans as well), specifically care packages as part of their organiztion, and they accepted PayPal donations.

Please use the link below to make your donations. They can be of any amount. I\'m extending the deadline for donations to Saturday 12/26 (and will remind anyone who\'s on for GN that evening as well).

Thank you in advance for however much you can contribute to the men and women of our armed forces, here, abroad, past and present.
